Hi Friends!
As the year has come to an end, we’d like to take a moment to recap and share where SAVA stands now. We did a similar post exactly one year ago — feel free to check it out here.
Here’s what we’ve achieved over the past year:
Two Locations!
Our first location on Yonge Street, which opene
d in 2021, was a small pilot project. In March 2024, we launched a larger café on Roncesvalles (Roncy) with 15 tables and an extended menu!
Team Growth
We’ve doubled our workforce and are now a team of 20 people representing over six countries. Talk about multicultural diversity! 😄
Revenue Milestone
Our annual revenue surpassed 1 million CAD. To clarify—this is revenue, not profit! The café business runs on very slim margins.
What We Sold in 2024
39,000 crepes
47,500 drinks
22,000 pastries (Have you tried our mango & passion fruit or pistachio croissants yet? 🍴)
Some Fun Facts:
In October 2024, someone broke into our new Roncy location. Luckily, they didn’t steal much—just a tablet and a first aid kit.
We updated the recipe for our buckwheat crepes to make them more authentic. We hope you’re loving the new taste!
The challenges of running a café are real! Here’s a glimpse of the equipment issues we dealt with this year:
Leaking espresso machine (fixed 3 times!)
Malfunctioning AC that didn’t cool
Ice buildup in the fridge
Clogged ice maker
Door opener that stopped working
Leaking roof
Dishwashing machine replaced
Frequent internet outages
Regularly clogged toilets (including one stolen flushing mechanism!)
Running a café is never boring—it’s all part of the adventure! :)
